To encourage outstanding Malaysian students to undertake degree or language learning in Taiwan, several scholarship programs are offered for students to apply for pursuing advance study in Taiwan. The Education Division, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia announce today that 2021 Taiwan Scholarship and some other scholarship programs are open for application starting from now. This year, there are three scholarships available for Malaysian students to further studies in Taiwan despite the COVID-19 pandemic. These scholarship programs are the Ministry of Education (MOE) Taiwan Scholarship, MOE Huayu Enrichment Scholarship (HES), and the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF) Scholarship Program. Interested individual are welcomed to apply and submit their application before the deadline!
Education Division states that Taiwan has always been a preferred choice for international students for its high-quality education, affordable tuition, democratic society and innovative environment. During the world-wide COVID-19 pandemic, Taiwan has also won international acclaim for its successfully kept the pandemic under control. According to a newest index published on Jan. 28 by the Lowry Institute of Australia, Taiwan has been listed among the top three countries in the world for its successful handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. With the strengths to provide a safe study environment for international students, Education Division expects that this year will attract more applicants than years before.
Ministry of Education (MOE) Taiwan Scholarship Program offered by the Ministry of Education,Taiwan provides each recipient tuition and miscellaneous expenses of NTD 40,000 (approximately RM5,400) each semester. The recipient who undertaking undergraduate studies will also be offered a monthly living allowance of NTD 15,000 (approximately RM2,000) and for the recipient who undertaking postgraduate studies is NTD20,000 per month (approximately RM2,700). Ministry of Education Huayu Enrichment Scholarship is offered for the mandarin learners including beginners to study at any accredited Mandarin Language Centers in a university or college in Taiwan. The recipient will be awarded a monthly stipend of NTD 25,000 (approximately RM3,300). The duration of the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship is either 3 months or 6 months. The applications for the Taiwan Scholarship and Huayu Enrichment Scholarship will be closed on March 31, 2021. Eligible applicants shall apply for admission directly to the university or college that they are applying to, and submit their scholarship application documents to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia by that deadline.
Apart from these two scholarship programs, there is also the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF) Scholarship Program which offers Malaysian students to pursue specified Master or Doctoral Degree programs in 20 partner universities of ICDP. There is a total of 22 study programs available for this scholarship application. The Taiwan ICDF provides each scholarship recipient with a full scholarship, including return airfare, housing, tuition and credit fees, insurance, textbook costs and a monthly allowance. The applicants have to apply via a Taiwan ICDF online application system, and submit a signed and printed copy along with all other application documents to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia before March 15, 2021.
